has anyone done this and do you have any tips?
Changing headlight bulb, mark 4 golf? should i even attempt it?
Not sure which is the MK 4, but we had a fleet of Golfs on 01 and 02 plates and you needed fingers like knitting needles to change the headlight bulbs and the offside you had to dismantle the power steering reservoir to get at it. No wonder VW charged 拢60 per bulb to change them.

shouldnt be that hard but if u have to even ask. take it to halfords or sumet
Its very easy, from memory its just unscrewing a black cap from the rear of the light, and pulling it out. but dont touch the glass on the bulb as the grease/oil from your fingers will burn the bulb out quicker......
The MK4 Golf's an absolute nightmare to change a bulb on! I've done it, and it took about an hour, even a mechanic friend says that they're one of the hardest cars to do something as simple as a bulb change on. The problem, as with so many modern cars, is that you can't get your hand in to the back of the headlamp unit as there's so much stuff in the way. Apparently VW mechanics dismantle the whole front of the car, then remove the light unit.
for anyone thinks this is hardest to change a bulb, i say bs... try changing a bulb on a 350z... that you have to lift the car up, remove the wheels, and the remove the fender lining to get enough room to put in bulbs...
but here are instructions with pics to do it on a golf

it helps to remove the battery, dont need to, but just makes it a lot easier
